Weirdos Inc. Records presents its inaugural compilation: "Delusions" – a mesmeric anthology of tracks from talented friends around the world. This compilation weaves a sonic tapestry of fourth world dub encounters that seamlessly connect the dots between psychedelic soundscapes, leftfield techno and sultry downtempo excursions that leave you marooned in a sweltering desert trance.

You're on a train, the melodic chug of flying rails beneath you, A red heat bleeds in from the window creating an ethereal mirage in the distance. The destination is at present unclear, but preliminary shimmering sights and new auditory visions promise hedonistic revelation.
We could waffle on and on like this (and we have a few times). Basically, This compilation is a journey - a collision of songs that created a path we couldn't have dreamt of.

From the clandestine depths of the UK's music scene emerge local Bristol luminaries Bruce, Deep Nalström, and Balouu, alongside the 1990s Lake District free-party-legend, Celestium, and London-based maestro DJ ojo. Traversing hallucinatory Siberian forests, Alterleo's "Voices" floats across the Pacific to the West Coast of North America. The journey continues here along the rain-soaked, salt-kissed abodes of Copyright Linda Fox, IHA, William of Aragon, and Shaye Steele, led by Weirdos Inc.'s conductor, dj_2button. Their rhythms surge southwards, passing through the Olympic Peninsula, en route to the eclectic beats of Seattle's Tondiue, and ultimately, the rhythmic tapestry of Mexican and Brazilian rhythms spun by Ludviq and Mandruvá.

Long time friend Bruce aka Larry McCarthy opens up the compilation with a typically dramatic entrance. I think Larry has gone and invented another genre again, somewhere transcendental between big beat and steppas, psych-filled-screaching-dub chasms? God knows. The multi-faceted vision of Bruce takes on new forms with his track “Wesleys Sniped All Our Bleedin' K”. Amazing job on mastering duty too.

Deep Nalström takes us on a unique journey through his ingenious, world-building music. His track "Still Lake" is a picturesque and dub-infused voyage through uncharted waters, much like an Alien Eden. Best known for his graphic design work under Atelier Superplus, Guillaume de Ubéda’s visual art, like his music, paints vivid and surreal landscapes full of wired wildlife warbling, imprinting pictures of this peaceful terrain inside your head.

DJ ojo immerses us in a dreamy realm with "Lounge of a Thousand Years", a sunken and meditative dub that conjures images of drifting through an opium den for a millennium. It's humid and shadowed in new age mystery, a cerebral epic through desolate deserts. Keep one eye open though, these sounds in the distance have a dangerous edge. Watch out for predators. Surreal work from Joe Carver here.

Which leads us into William of Aragon’s “Out of the Box” ft. Shaye Steele on vocals. Mystical, dark and brooding primitive music designed from and for the depths of the woods late at night. Don’t blow that candle out just yet… Keep it going.

Balouu’s “Psych Jam” is what it says on the tin, a hallucinogenic conscience expander. Bubbling hues surround the train carriage's air, conditioning is but a distant memory, the scenery blurs between reality and mirage. With this composition, Joe Bennett has masterfully whisked us away to another dimension. It lives somewhere between surf and krautrock, but it sits entirely in its own field with its 8 bit crushed guitar tones and filtered ticking percussion.

A shout out to our good friend Bill K, who has an uncanny knack for unearthing hidden gems and in that manner introduced us to Celestium. Bill discovered the "Rising" CD from 1997, a relic from his many secret record dwellings in the West Country of England. Neil Steveson, the man behind Celestium, has been crafting tracks for over three decades, staying largely under the radar with self releases. "Of the Planet" from his 2004 Rainforest LP takes us on a dystopian journey deep beyond the forest edge, with nods to primitive amazonian soundscapes where frogs and birds dance percussive, and synth lines nod nostalgia to Kraftwerk dripped in Goa trance pulsations, yet remaining very grounded in the ominous drear of the UK. We love Neil’s music so much we had to put two of his pieces on the comp.

“Seattle’s Tondiue drops in from orbit with a disco dub weapon certain to knock the dust off your sound system and feed the fuzz back into your brain. No Dial Left Unturned!”

IHA’s “Old School Breaks” tears up the dance floor every time. It’s deep and heady psychedelic trance, euphoric and subtle bass music that soars and transports your conscience out of this barren desert and into the front left of your most frequented sweaty club. Despite only producing for the last 2 years, IHA has taken the Vancouver scene by storm - this track offering a glimpse of their immense talent.

Calm after the storm now, heading into the direction of blurred metropolitan lights in the distance with dj_2buttons ‘Stepping In’. Flutes and violins synthesize along a propelling bassline that create a permanent haze with dramatic twists and turns. Reverb soaked acid lines drift in and out like a state of dehydrated consciousness. We think the storms are coming back... Step out. STEP OUT.

We must've passed out there, awakening from our reverie to the tribal sounds of Alterleo. "Voices" fills the air with chants that pan from left to right, driven by pulsating basslines and synths. The percussion propels us forward, while Eastern flutes bring with them the realization that these carriages are no longer bound to the earth. We've ascended into the clouds, my friends.

Ludviq and Mandruvá meet us there at breakneck speeds, the resounding roar of electro-infused chug propelled by acid lines heralding our salvation from the now plummeting train. The duo from Central and South America have crafted a track that seamlessly blends the ominous with a profound sense of hope and vision. Ludviq, a cherished friend of the label, it's a true delight to witness your heroic descent to whisk us to safety.

Deep Nalström re-emerges with a fourth world vision, more upbeat this time. “Opoal” transmits dubby, latin infused rhythm to the sound of awash pads and melodies that question reality, ensnaring us once more in his immersive realm, which has, in a sense, become our own by this point.

Some words from Copyright Linda Fox:
“This particular song came from a vision of ecological restoration gone wild, where human infrastructure is overwhelmed by corporate fauna in blue suits at dawn tryna spread the sacred flora. The streets are cracked and buildings collapse, but in a good way, since the wind that gushes up when roofs fall is cool and wet and smells like moss.
But when it gets dark then you get these self-help gurus roaming the streets with solar-powered flashlights and pamphlets about how "everything is connected", and we're all like: "yeah no kidding, there's roots wrapped around my ankles now and ants crawling up my sleeve so leave us alone". But they don't ever leave, because how could they if everything's connected?" We agree. Dave Biddle’s got to have one of the best stage presences we’ve ever seen. Live sax and hardware and dance moves that destroy an entire dancefloor. This guys got the magic!

And finally! We’re so happy and surprised you made it to the end of this mammoth of a trip. No words but pure joy and hedonism from Celestium's 'Eye'. Initially self released in 1997 - it’s got that real 90's sound. Goa Trance via the hills of the Lake District. He ends the compilation by putting all who listen into a bliss-filled trance. We’re again so pleased to be re-releasing Celestiums tracks into orbit, what an undeniable honor.

Until next time, Stay Weird!
